What goes wrong without it
Leads now arrive from many places at once: website forms, Google and Meta ad forms, property or listing portals, WhatsApp messages, phone calls, walk-ins and referrals. In many businesses each source lands somewhere different. Some sit in an email inbox, some in a portal dashboard, some on a salesperson's phone. Nobody has the full list.
When leads are scattered, they leak. A lead from a weekend campaign is not called until Tuesday. The same person inquires twice and is contacted by two different salespeople. A promising prospect is forgotten because the follow-up date was written on a notepad. When a salesperson leaves, their leads and history leave with them.
Managers cannot answer basic questions with confidence. Which campaigns produce leads that actually buy? How quickly is the team responding? How many deals are stuck after the quotation? Marketing spend gets judged by enquiry volume rather than sales, because the two are never connected.
